Our Story

30 Years of Staten Island Renovations and Remodeling

Durabilt GC started in 1995 with a single truck, a small crew, and a simple promise: do the work right the first time. Three decades later, that promise still runs the company.

Since then, we’ve completed hundreds of kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, and full renovations across Staten Island, learning the borough’s homes street by street, from pre-war colonials to New Dorp split-levels.

Today we’re still family-owned, still licensed and insured, still answering our own phone. Most of our work comes from neighbors who’ve seen ours. That’s the reputation we’ve spent thirty years earning, and every job is a chance to keep it.

What We Do

Our Professional General Construction Services

Durabilt GC is a licensed general contractor working across Staten Island and Brooklyn. We handle interiors and exteriors: kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, pavers, siding with one crew, one point of contact, and an itemized estimate before anything starts.

Kitchen Renovation & Remodeling

Kitchens are the most complicated room in a house, and the one people regret rushing. We handle everything from cabinet and countertop replacement to full gut renovations that move plumbing and reframe the layout. Our Staten Island kitchen remodeling team will tell you which upgrades you’ll feel every day and which ones just cost money.

Bathroom Renovation

Dated bathrooms are usually a layout problem before they’re a finish problem. We rebuild showers, reconfigure cramped floor plans, and address the waterproofing behind the tile the part nobody sees, and everybody pays for later. Bathroom renovation is among the highest-return projects on a Staten Island home.

Basement Renovations

An unfinished basement is the cheapest square footage you’ll ever add. We frame, insulate, and finish it into real living space: a family room, home office, in-law suite, and we deal with moisture and egress requirements first, because a finished basement built over a water problem doesn’t stay finished.

Deck Installation

We build decks to survive Staten Island winters and the humidity that follows them. That means proper footings below the frost line, materials chosen for how much upkeep you actually want to do, and framing you won’t think about again. Our deck builders handle design, permits, and construction start to finish.

Paver Installation

Most paver failures are base failures. We excavate and compact properly before a single stone goes down, so your patio, walkway, or driveway sits level in year ten instead of year two. Our Staten Island paver installation crews work in brick, bluestone, and concrete pavers.

Siding & Stucco Contractor

Siding and stucco are your home’s weather barrier before they’re its appearance. We install and repair both, correcting the flashing and moisture detailing underneath where nearly every exterior failure actually begins. The result is a tighter, better-insulated house that also looks considerably better from the curb.

Built on Trust

Why Homeowners Choose Durabilt GC

Picking a contractor is mostly a question of who you can trust with your house and your money. Here’s what we put behind that.

01

Licensed & Insured

Durabilt GC holds an active NYC DOB registration and DCWP Home Improvement Contractor license, plus general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Both licenses are public; look us up before you call. We’ll send certificates of insurance on request, before you sign anything.

02

30+ Years in One Borough

Family-owned since 1995. We’ve spent three decades working on Staten Island housing stock, which means we know what’s behind the walls of a 1960s split-level before we open it. Hundreds of completed local projects, many for repeat clients and their families.

03

Itemized Estimates, Line by Line

Every estimate breaks out labor and materials separately, so you can see what you’re paying for and compare it honestly against other bids. No lump-sum figures, no vague allowances. If a number looks high, ask us, and we’ll show you the math.

04

No Surprise Change Orders

If we open a wall and find something unexpected, you hear about it that day with a price, and you approve it before we keep going. Surprise costs at the end of a project are the most common complaint homeowners have about contractors. It’s the easiest one to avoid.

05

One Team, Every Trade

Carpentry, drywall, tile, cabinetry, countertops, and exterior work are handled in-house. You aren’t coordinating four subcontractors or waiting on someone else’s schedule, and you deal with the same point of contact from the first estimate through the final walkthrough.

06

Free Estimates, Backed by a Warranty

The in-home consultation and written estimate cost nothing and commit you to nothing. When the work is finished, it’s covered by our 30-year workmanship warranty on labor and installation, with manufacturer warranties on materials transferred to you in writing.

How We Work

Frequently Asked Questions

Durabilt GC has been family-owned and operating since 1995, with more than 30 years of hands-on renovation work in Staten Island and the surrounding boroughs. In that time, we’ve completed hundreds of residential projects, from single-room refreshes to full gut renovations, and built a reputation the old-fashioned way: through neighbors recommending us to neighbors. Three decades in one community means we know the housing stock here the pre-war colonials, the split-levels, the row homes and we know what it takes to renovate them properly.

Yes. Durabilt GC is NYC DOB registered and holds both a General Contractor Registration and a Home Improvement Contractor license. We carry full general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage on every job.

That matters more than it might sound. Proper licensing means your permits get filed correctly, and your work passes inspection. Proper insurance means that if something goes wrong on your property, you’re not the one holding the bill. We’re happy to provide current certificates before you sign anything, and we’d encourage you to ask any contractor you’re considering to do the same.

Our core crews are in-house: the carpenters, tile setters, and finish trades who handle the bulk of your project work for Durabilt directly, not for whoever was available that week. For specialty trades like electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, we work with a small group of licensed specialists we’ve partnered with for years.

Either way, one thing doesn’t change: your project has a single point of contact at Durabilt, and we’re accountable for every hand that touches your home. You’ll never be left chasing down a trade or refereeing between crews. That’s what “Every Trade, One Team” actually means in practice.

Staten Island is home base, and we work across all 40+ neighborhoods on the island: St. George, New Dorp, Great Kills, Tottenville, and everywhere in between. We also serve Brooklyn and take on projects in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.

If you’re not sure whether your address falls in our service area, just call. If we’re not the right fit for the location, we’ll tell you straight and point you toward someone who is.

Yes, both are core parts of what we do. On the residential side, that’s kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, pavers, siding, and full-home renovations. On the commercial side, we handle build-outs and renovations for storefronts, offices, restaurants, and multi-family and mixed-use properties.

Commercial work runs on a different set of rules: tighter schedules, occupied buildings, coordination with landlords and inspectors, and often after-hours work so a business can keep its doors open. We’ve done enough of it to plan around those realities from day one rather than discovering them mid-project.

Anything from a single bathroom to a whole-home gut renovation. Most of our residential projects land between roughly $15,000 for a basic basement finish and $70,000 or more for a full kitchen remodel, but that’s a range, not a rule, and commercial build-outs are scoped individually.

We don’t have a minimum that turns away smaller jobs, and we don’t take on more work at once than we can properly staff. If a project isn’t the right fit for us, we’ll say so upfront instead of stretching ourselves thin and letting your timeline suffer for it.

Every Durabilt GC project is backed by a written workmanship warranty covering labor and installation defects. Manufacturer warranties on materials, cabinets, fixtures, roofing, and siding pass directly to you, and we ensure you receive the documentation at closeout.

The warranty terms are spelled out in your contract before work begins, so there are no surprises later. And if something isn’t right after we’ve finished, call us. We’re a family business that’s been in this borough for thirty years. We’re not hard to find, and we intend to be here still the next time you need us.
